Export of basmati rice - No change in central government's decision
The central government has fixed the minimum export price for basmati rice exports.
Basmati rice cannot be exported for less than USD 1200 per tranche.
Indian basmati exporters have made a demand due to falling prices of basmati rice internationally.
The demand is to change the minimum export price from 1200 to 850 dollars.
The central government has recently announced that the old price will continue in the context of exporters hoping that the government should change this price.
It is noteworthy that basmati rice exporters who represented India at the recent trade fair in Istanbul did not receive a single order.
Due to this, various exporters in Punjab are disappointed.
Similarly, 20 percent export tax has been levied on non-basmati rice exports.
There has been a demand to change this tax to $80 per tonne but the central government has not given any information about this yet.
