Central Govt made drone export easy.
Export of drones in India was restricted.
Its export is now easier as the Government of India has reformed the Drone Export Policy.
This policy change is in place to allow the export of drones that can be used by the general public.
Earlier drone export required SCOMET license.
Currently, export of drones with a weight of 25 kg and a maximum range of 25 km is permitted.
Obtaining GAED approval is mandatory for drone export. This permit has to be renewed every three years. We have received orders from around a hundred countries since the drone was simplified. Chennai-based Garuda Aerospace currently has an order for ten thousand drones for export.
It is expected to rise as an industry that can generate about $20 billion in foreign exchange by 2030.
