The urad dal produced in our country is not enough to meet our demand. So we import large quantities of urad dal.
We import a lot especially from Myanmar. We have already imported about two lakh tonnes this year. At this stage, the Consumer affairs Department in Myanmar has advised to control the export. Hence, the export volume from there is likely to decrease. Considering this, India has now decided to import from Brazil. This will reduce Myanmar's dependence on a particular commodity.
