Although soya meal is exported from India to various countries, our competitor is Argentina.
Yields have been affected by drought in Argentina.
A large amount of soya meal is imported by our neighboring countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, Japan and Nepal.
Countries that were currently buying from Argentina have started buying from India due to drought and rising prices.
Argentina used to export soymeal at a lower price than India but now it is reversed.
Last year our export was 6,44,000 tonnes. This year it is expected to increase to 15 lakh to 20 lakh tonnes.
