Increase in import of vegetable oil.
We are heavily dependent on imports for our vegetable oil requirements.
The demand for raw and refined palm oil is increasing year by year.
Last November we have imported about 1.14 million tonnes of palm oil.
This is about 29 percent higher than the previous month.
Palm oil imports are mostly from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Imports of soya oil fell by 36 percent.
Imports of sunflower oil rose by 10 percent during the same period.
Imports of soybean oil and sunflower oil are mainly from Argentina, Brazil, Russia and Ukraine.
