A new opportunity to trade with Sri Lanka.
Cargo ships from India pass through the port of Colombo.
The delay in transportation there results in higher cost of exports and delay in arrival of goods.
To avoid this, the Sri Lankan government has taken a new initiative to transport goods from Sri Lanka to India very quickly at low cost.
It has decided to operate a low-capacity cargo ship from Gangeson port in Sri Lanka.
It seems that this cargo ship may be launched by the end of January or the first week of February.
This cargo ship is likely to run twice or thrice a week.
Its capacity is 300 tons.
The Sri Lankan government says that there is an opportunity to improve bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and India.
It is said that there is an opportunity for us to export many products from India to Sri Lanka and import value added products from Sri Lanka like banana, tobacco, palm and coconut value added products.
