The Union Ministry of Railways has given permission to open shops to sell local products at about 5000 railway stations across the country.
According to this, the respective Railway Zonal Offices have arranged to set up shops at railway stations where there is high traffic.
Local items were sold in them.
Similarly, in Chennai, shops were opened at Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations and sales of Kanchipuram silk sarees started.
Sale Commencement Date March 25, 2022.
Within three months of the opening of the shops, sales of more than fifty lakh rupees were made.
No other railway station in India has sold this much in such a short period of time.
Similarly, Shungudi saree is sold in Madurai.
Palm products are sold at Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur railway stations.
Southern Railway has taken steps to sell such local products at around 25 railway stations in the Chennai suburbs as Chennai has generated huge revenue.
One station one product project is going very well.
