What is Freight Express scheme?
Indian Railways has launched a new freight Express scheme for exporters.
The scheme came into effect on August 15 last.
Direct freight train services have been introduced from Haryana to two major ports in Gujarat and Nava Siva Port in Mumbai.
The freight train travels about 1000 km from Haryana in twenty-three hours without stopping.
The central government has said that with the implementation of this freight rail transport, more exporters from the Haryana region are likely to emerge in the future.
It is faster and cheaper to transport goods by road than by train.
This has been welcomed by the Basmati rice exporters in the region.
The government has said that such a special freight train service will soon be implemented in various parts of the country.
They said the freight train service would increase competition in transport services and reduce prices.
