At present, a large number of countries import organic food products from India.
European countries in particular are interested in importing such excellent organic food products.
Denmark imports our traditional millet varieties such as finger millet and barnyard millet.
These varieties are cultivated in Uttarakhand, in the foothills of the Himalayas.
No synthetic fertilizer is used.
The cultivation of these millets is carried out by the water flowing through the himalayan ice.
The quality of finger millet and barnyard millet are better than that set by European countries for organic products.
APEDA has made exports possible in collaboration with the Farmers Federation in Uttarakhand.
Importers in Denmark have decided to buy finger millet and barnyard millet on contract basis for the next two years in the first phase.
